Re-Wilding

Re-wilding is happening

inside of me,

and in the forest

outside of my window.

We are the same,

my mother and I.

The once wide

and neatly manicured

trail in the forest

is growing over,

vines twisting in an intimate dance

with grand old trees.

new grasses and plants of all kinds

springing up all around me.

Growth cannot be stopped.

Life cannot be stopped.

The wild cannot be contained.

Despite my best efforts to keep everything neat

and in its place,

held back,

contained,

controlled,

penned in,

wild nature perseveres,

she wins out,

and she always will.

Mother nature

is the sacred mirror,

showing me the truth

of who I am.

Like her,

I am being re-wilded,

my once restrained,

constricted,

controlled,

and nearly decimated

inner wilderness

can no longer be contained.

I do as she does,

I break free…

I become wild,

And I escape the confines

and the bondage of

servitude,

people-pleasing,

appearance,

conformity,

and fear.

She shows me

the truth of who I am

and the inner strength that I have

cultivated for so long...

Resilience,

Determination,

Fortitude,

Compassion,

and Peace.

She shows me my freedom.

She teaches me

to Trust

in the flow,

to let go and accept

the seasons of life,

Birth, death, and rebirth,

And faith in the process of renewal.

She offers me

love,

safety,

and belonging.

Within her I find Home.

Re-wilding is happening

Inside of me,

And in the forest

Outside of my window.

We are the same,

My mother and I.
