Ripples On The Surface

Raindrops create ripples

on the river’s surface.

The ripples make tiny waves

but they don’t penetrate

below the surface level.

Beneath the surface lies

the water’s deep stillness

that remains undisturbed.

The rain is just like

my own emotions,

thoughts,

and sensations

that ripple across the surface of my being,

they temporarily disturb

and alter the surface,

but can never touch

the stillness underneath.
