The Pain of Our Mothers

As I listen to my neighbor crying, saying that she is done with this life, that her anger, her rage, and her sorrow are too heavy a burden to bear,

I send her love and comfort…

I understand, my sister. I understand, and I feel your pain.

Yours is a rage and a sorrow that all women feel.

As we embody

Our own pain,

Our mother’s pain,

Our mother’s mother’s pain,

As well as the pain of our Mother Earth.

We feel their pain as our own.

The sadness, the despair, the desperation, and the agony. We feel it all in our own soft bodies.

I understand, my sister.

I understand,

I feel your pain,

And the pain of our Mothers.
